CONCORSO DEGLI STROMENTI
4 October 2015 | Sunday 3:00 p.m.
Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams St., Tucson, Arizona
The Los Angeles-based ensemble Tesserae invites you to a face-off among virtuoso instruments of the early Baroque. This imagined competition takes place in 17th century Venice, with music by Bertali, Becker, Legrenzi, and Castello. Tesserae’s director Alexandra Opsahl, graduate of the Royal Academy of Music with first class honors, leads this seven-member period ensemble, ranging from sackbut and cornetti to violin, bass and harpsichord, as each vies to be crowned most brilliant instrument of the Baroque.
