Founded in 1982 by University of Arizona faculty and local-music lovers, AEM presents an annual concert series in Tucson, AZ of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music featuring acclaimed specialists and rising stars of Early Music.
What is Early Music?
The term “early music” refers to a repertory—music written before about 1800, including medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and the transition into early classical music—and also to an approach to performance—“historically-informed performance,” which includes the use of period instruments.
