What is Early Music?

The term “early music” refers to a repertory—music written before about 1800, including medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and the transition into early classical music—and also to an approach to performance—“historically-informed performance,” which includes the use of period instruments.

Arizona Early Music is dedicated to enriching contemporary life by connecting to the past through music. We bring nationally and internationally renowned musical ensembles to Southern Arizona to present concerts and educational outreach focused on music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.
