The James Anthony Memorial Concert

Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams St., Tucson, Arizona
Brought to Spain from the bounty of the Americas, cacao ruled; once Spanish chocolatiers introduced the luscious taste sensation to the royal court at Versailles, every fashionable person wanted to drink chocolate. French baroque music is to the ear what chocolate is to our taste buds: ecstatic delight! In this concert, Ensemble Caprice brings the great French baroque composers Charpentier, Couperin, Rameau, Marais, Leclair, and Corrette deliciously to life.
Ensemble Caprice, founded by acclaimed conductor, composer, and recorder soloist Matthias Maute, is known for its innovative and adventuresome approach to musical repertoire. The baroque ensemble features Matthias Maute and Sophie Larivière (recorder and flute), Susie Napper (baroque cello), David Jacques (baroque guitar), and Ziya Tabassian (percussion). Ensemble Caprice has numerous awards for its concerts and discography, and tours extensively worldwide, including recent tours to China and Africa.
